Membership and Information
We are a group of over 60 members whose herbal knowledge and expertise range from beginning the study and cultivation of herbs to having years of experience as master gardeners and educators. Our interests are broad and include horticulture, literature, arts, crafts, cooking and research.
Membership includes many opportunities for learning and enjoyment. We host lectures by experts on a wide array of topics related to herbs. The maintenance of the Herb Garden in Elizabeth Park and our work with female inmates at the York Correctional Institution to learn about herbs and build and maintain on-site gardens are central to our community outreach. Connections with other members may be forged at monthly teas and workshops to produce crafts and herbal delights for sale at our annual herb symposium.
We generally meet on the second Monday of the month from April to November at various locations throughout the state. Membership meetings include guest speakers, discussion of interesting books and favorite plants, and sharing of herbal-inspired food and drinks. Meetings typically begin with social time, followed by an educational program and lunch.

Dues Renewal
Your dues payment includes annual membership in both the Connecticut Unit and The Herb Society of America (HSA). As an HSA member, you will receive HSA’s bi-monthly newsletter, the annual publication The Herbalist and other benefits.
Active Member $15 CT Unit + $55 HSA = $70

Member Definitions
Active Member – A member who, each year, will assume an active role on a committee, special event or project, attend at least 2 general membership meetings, help to prepare food and cleanup at one member meeting and volunteer to work at or on behalf of the Herb Garden at Elizabeth Park.
Associate Member – A member in good standing who is not an Active Member.
Friend – A member of another unit of HSA who wishes to support the Connecticut Unit.
HSA Life Member-Active – An individual who is a Life Member of HSA who wishes to be involved in the Connecticut Unit as an active member.
HSA Life Member-Associate – An individual who is a Life Member of HSA who wishes to be involved in the Connecticut Unit as an associate member.
